Union Minister Satyapal Singh: Darwin's evolution theory is scientifically wrong
Minister of State, in the Human Resource Development (HRD), Satyapal Singh doesn't want Charles Darwin's "theory of evolution" to be taught in schools. But, why is that? Amusingly, he claims that since our ancestors haven't mentioned that they saw an ape turn into a man, the theory is scientifically wrong. The IPS-turned-politician was attending the All India Vedic Conference in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
What is Darwin's Theory of Evolution?
Darwin, a 19th century English naturalist, helped remove all conventional beliefs that various species were formed due to supernatural phenomenon or an act of the God. As per Darwin's theory, evolution is a gradual process of natural selection where species adapt to the changing environment to survive. He suggested that, it is through this adaptation that apes evolved into humans.
What is Satyapal Singh's argument?
Now, what is Singh's argument? He says, "No person has ever mentioned in writing or in our Nana-Nani tales, that Darwin went anywhere into the jungles and witnessed an ape transform into a human. This has not been written anywhere." What's more, Singh has his own theory: "Humans appeared on Earth as humans, right from the beginning and man will always remain a man."
Incidentally, Singh is known for controversial statements
Earlier too, Singh has had such moments of verbal diarrhoea. He had recently suggested that IITians be taught about Shivakar Babuji Talpade, who he claims invented the airplane much before the Wright brothers. He also wants them to learn about the "Pushpak Vimaan" (flying chariot) mentioned in the Ramayana. So, is Singh going to refurbish more discoveries? Your guess is as good as ours!
