MoS Ahir to doctors: Join naxals, government will shoot you
It is about time BJP control its ministers. Earlier, union minister Ananthkumar Hegde made controversial remarks about constitution. Now, MoS Home Hansraj Ahir has given provocative statements about doctors. Ahir was annoyed as some senior doctors were absent from an inaugural function in Chandrapur. He said that the doctors should join Naxals if they don't believe in democracy. Then, the government can shoot them.
What annoyed Ahir so much?
Ahir was inaugurating a 24/7 store for general medicine at a government-run hospital in Maharashtra's Chandrapur, which he represents in LS. He was upset that even though the mayor and deputy mayor came, senior doctors were absent from the function. He wondered whether it was appropriate for doctors to go on a leave when a "democratically-elected" minister came to visit.
Why did he use the Naxal reference?
Chandrapur is affected by left-wing extremism. Citing this, Ahir said, like naxals, the absent doctors don't want democracy. They should thus join them. Then, once this happens, "we will pump you with bullets," he said. He asked "why are you (doctors) dispensing pills here?" He was using Marathi word "goli," which means both bullet and pill, as a pun.
But, where were the doctors?
But, where were the doctors? Reportedly, district civil surgeon Dr. Uday Nawade and medical college's dean Dr. SS More didn't attend the event. Both were apparently on leave for personal reasons. More said the acting dean was Dr. MJ Khan, who should have ideally filled in. Meanwhile, the collector Ashutosh Salil also didn't attend the function as he didn't receive a formal invite.
