Kamal Haasan will launch his party tomorrow, Kejriwal to attend
Veteran actor Kamal Haasan will begin writing his political script from tomorrow. Before kicking-starting a state-wide tour, he will launch his political party and enumerate its "guiding principles." Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will probably attend the national-award winning actor's party launch in Madurai. Incidentally, when the duo met in September'17, Kejriwal urged Haasan to join active politics. Here's more about Haasan's political plans.
What does Haasan plan to do?
Haasan earlier claimed that he intends to understand the people's needs, their problems and aspirations. He will begin his tour from his hometown, Ramanathapuram. From there, he will proceed to Madurai, Dindigul and Sivagangai, where he will interact with locals. Apart from Kejriwal, though Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan won't attend the launch, he will send a video message wishing him success.
Haasan also clarified his purpose for joining politics
Meanwhile, in recent days, Haasan has made courtesy visits to on-screen rival Rajinikanth, who has also ventured into politics, and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi. He declared, "I am entering politics only because the ruling AIADMK party is bad, that is why I am not meeting any of them." The 63-yr-old actor said he wanted to challenge the status quo that is "plaguing TN politics."
TN to witness Rajini versus Haasan showdown, now in politics
Though both superstars are vying to fill the leadership void left behind by AIADMK-supremo Jayalalithaa's death, they might not unite. None would want to play second fiddle to the other, which might become inevitable. Further, ideology-wise, Rajini speaks of "spiritual politics" and Haasan questions religious/conventional spiritualism. Apparently, while BJP might tacitly support Rajini, DMK might do so for Haasan, beginning a formidable political rivalry.
