Video: Cong leader holds MLC's hand, she pushes him away
A video has gone viral on social media in which Karnataka Congress leader TP Ramesh is seen holding MLC Veena Achaiah's hand, who resists the attempt. The incident happened at the Independence Day celebration in Madikeri town of Kodagu district. Ramesh is seen smiling while a visibly uncomfortable Veena pushes his hand away. He later apologized, but the incident drew sharp reactions.
'We didn't talk afterwards but he apologized later on phone'
According to Veena, they were discussing a recent health camp when he said she had lost weight and took her hand. "I felt uncomfortable and immediately pushed his hand away." Though they didn't talk afterwards at the event, Veena says they talked on phone later. "He apologized and said he considered me like his sister and never meant to make me uncomfortable," she said.
What's next?
Veena says she hasn't faced anything like this in the party before. She hasn't filed any complaint yet, but will talk to party seniors about the course of action. Meanwhile, Ramesh says he is willing to apologize in public. "I have known Veena for a long time and she is like my sister. It was not my intention to misbehave with her," he said.
