Poor vote for alcohol-chicken, not 'baati chokha': UP minister
UP Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar is in news again, this time for his comments about the poor. "Baati-chokha kaccha vote, daaru murga pakka vote," he reportedly said, implying the poor don't vote for those offering basic fare like "baati chokha", but for those giving them alcohol and chicken. In October, he made headlines when his convoy ran over a five-year-old boy, killing the child.
Rajbhar's comments on poor and alcohol
According to ANI, Rajbhar was speaking at an event in Balrampur: "All you poor people decide whom to vote for based on the alcohol and chicken you get, and meanwhile the netas aim to reach Delhi and Lucknow while making you dance to their tunes."
Rajbhar has created several controversies in the past months
Rajbhar, minister for backward and handicapped welfare, has made similar comments before. Three months ago, he accused his own community, the Rajbhars, of spending more on alcohol in a day than the BJP spends in a month. In October, he triggered controversy when he said parents should be jailed for not sending children to school. The same month, his convoy ran over a five-year-old boy.
