Uday Bhanu Chib appointed as new Indian Youth Congress president
Uday Bhanu Chib has been appointed as the new president of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. "Hon'ble Congress President has appointed Shri Uday Bhanu Chib, currently General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and former President of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress, as the President of the Indian Youth Congress, with immediate effect," Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said in a statement.
Chib's political background and recent activities
Chib, who will replace Srinivas BV, has been actively involved in the ongoing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He was part of the Congress's manifesto committee for these elections. Recently, he participated in a roadshow for National Congress candidate Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, who is contesting from the Jammu North assembly seat.
Outgoing IYC president Srinivas BV's contribution acknowledged
In the statement, Venugopal also expressed gratitude to outgoing IYC president Srinivas for his contributions to the party. "The party appreciates the contributions of the outgoing President, Shri Srinivas BV," he said. Srinivas was appointed as the IYC chief in July 2020 by then-Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. He replaced KR Suresh Reddy, who served as the acting chief of the youth wing following Keshav Chand Yadav's resignation in July 2019.
