Bihar: Tejashwi Yadav stakes claim to form govt; meets governor
Following the political drama in Karnataka, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, along with the Congress, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and CPI(ML) leaders met Governor Satya Pal Malik today and staked claim to form the government in Bihar. During the meeting with the governor, Yadav said that RJD being the single largest party in the state should be invited to form the government.
There has to be one rule in the country: Tejashwi
Yadav said they have 111 MLAs together and if they are asked for floor test, they are confident of winning. "The point we are trying to make is that there has to be one rule in the country. If the Karnataka Governor decided to invite the BJP, as it is the single largest party, then the same should be applied to Bihar," he said.
RJD relegated to opposition last year as JD(U) walked away
In the 243-member Bihar Assembly, the RJD has 80 MLAs, while JD(U) has 71 legislators and the BJP has 53. LJP and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party have two seats each and the Congress has 27 MLAs. Last year, JD(U) bailed on the three-party alliance with the RJD and Congress and merged with the BJP to form a new government in Bihar.
