Was a kid, didn't even have moustache: Tejashwi on FIR
Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has claimed corruption allegations against him are "political vendetta" by PM Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah. "They are bringing 2004 cases against me. I didn't even have a moustache then. How can a 13-14-year-old kid do all this?" he asked. The Yadavs have allegedly amassed illegal assets worth Rs. 1,000cr.
Why did CBI raid Yadavs' premises?
Earlier this month, CBI raided Yadavs' premises in a case related to illegal leasing of land. Charges have been filed against Lalu, Tejashwi and others. Lalu is accused of illegally facilitating the leasing of land in Puri and Ranchi during his tenure as railway minister. In exchange, he allegedly got a two-acre plot in Patna, which was eventually transferred to his wife and sons.
Were the raids an attempt to break opposition's unity?
Lalu is the glue that holds NDA opposition together. Critics viewed the raids as BJP's attempt to avoid facing a united opposition in the 2019 elections.
Alliance won't break, says Tejashwi. Nitish Kumar resists political pressure
Tejashwi also denied the Mahagathbandhan was under strain. "From Day One (BJP) has tried to break our alliance. The alliance is strong and will not break," he said. Meanwhile, JD(U) chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is under pressure to remove him from his post.
