Surgical strike video: RS Prasad furiously hits back at Congress
Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad went all guns blazing at Congress for its comment that Bharatiya Janata Party used surgical strike of 2016 to gain votes. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Prasad said Pakistan and terrorists would be happy after Congress's remarks. "Did the Congress even believe there was a surgical strike?" an angry Prasad asked. Here's more on what he said.
Which elections are happening now, Law Minister asks Congress
The video of surgical strikes, that happened in September 2016, aired on news channels on Wednesday. Speaking on it, Congress accused BJP of using surgical strikes for voters. Congress spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was glorified while armymen sacrificed. To this, Prasad said, "Please tell me, which election is happening now? There are no elections at the moment."
Rahul Gandhi used shameful words, claims Prasad
Verbally flailing Congress chief, Prasad said, "Once Rahul Gandhi called surgical strikes "khoon ka dalali (trading on the sacrifices on soldiers). Their leaders have used some very shameful terms against the army chief."
"All defense related scams took place under Congress"
Ravi Prasad, further, said Congress was frustrated as BJP has a clean image. All defense related scams, like Bofors and Augusta Westland, took place under UPA rule. He said Modi led Centre has taken steps to strengthen the Army. "It was alleged we are cutting down budget of armed forces. This is totally baseless. One of the highest budget for forces has been allocated this year," he told reporters.
No doubt, LeT sponsored Ghulam Nabi Azad's statements: Prasad
Tearing into Lashkar-e-Taiba agreeing with Ghulam Nabi Azad's statement that Indian Army killed more civilians than terrorists in Kashmir, Prasad said, "Pakistan and terrorist would be the happiest lot to hear the comments of Congress leaders on surgical strike." He asked Congress to tell the nation whether it trusts the surgical strike video or not. "Are they saying the video is fake?" he said.
