Modiji, speeches don't fill empty stomachs: Sonia Gandhi
Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi from a podium at Vijayapura in poll-bound Karnataka on Tuesday. Sonia Gandhi addressed a gathering today, two years after she quit an election rally mid-way in Varanasi. Praising Modi's oration skills, Gandhi said speeches don't fill empty stomachs. PM Modi, too, criticized Congress at his Vijayapura rally, today.
Sonia accuses PM Modi of using heroes for political gains
Sonia Gandhi accused PM Modi of using historical heroes for political gains. "Wherever Modiji goes he says wrong things and distorts historical facts," she said. "I'll be happy if his speeches can end hunger of the country but speeches cannot fill empty stomachs, food is needed for that... You cannot fill your stomach with your speeches. Modiji's speeches cannot cure diseases," she further said.
Sonia questions PM's 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'
Asking what the Modi government has done for Karnataka, Sonia Gandhi added why was the state given the least compensation after drought. "I ask Modiji, is this your sabka saath, sabka vikas," she said. She alleged PM Modi refused to meet CM Siddarmaiah when he wanted to discuss drought-ridden farmers. She further said Modi insulted farmers, and Karnataka, by doing so.

PM Modi says Congress isn't concerned about women safety
Addressing a rally in Vijayapura earlier today, PM Modi had launched fresh salvo against Congress and said the party was never serious about women safety. "Here in Vijayapura, there was a case but what did the Congress government do? Nothing," he said. He added people of Karnataka have decided to punish Congress. He said Congress did not allow the law on Triple Talaq.
How can Congress talk about women-empowerment, asked Modi
"It is the Congress party that did not allow the law on Triple Talaq to be passed. How is the Congress even talking about women empowerment? Protecting the girl-child is our commitment. We believe in the mantra of Beta Beti Ek Samaan," PM Modi said.
