Priyanka Gandhi's Amethi 'namaz', Ujjain temple-visit 'for votes': Smriti Irani
Union Minister Smriti Irani on Thursday attacked Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, saying that she offered "namaz" in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi and then visited Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple only for votes. Irani is contesting against Priyanka's brother, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, from Amethi where she lost to him by over one lakh votes in the last elections. Here's more.

"The Congress was so flustered in Amethi that its general secretary, after offering namaz for votes there, now visited the revered Mahakal temple in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain," Irani said at a rally. She, however, didn't directly name Priyanka.
Priyanka offered prayers at Ujjain Mahakaleshwar Temple, held roadshow
Priyanka, earlier on Monday, had visited the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple of Ujjain. The Congress General Secretary had offered her prayers at the temple before launching her campaign in Madhya Pradesh for the last phase of voting of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections scheduled for 19 May. After her temple visit, Priyanka also held a roadshow in Ujjain.
Priyanka joined active politics in January this year
Priyanka had joined active politics in January and was appointed as Congress's General Secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh (East). She even played a key role in reaching out to the poorest sections and increasing support for Rahul in Amethi. She also helped the Congress shift the focus of the 2019 General Election to issues like economy and employment.
Rahul promised loan waiver to farmers, later betrayed them: Irani
Meanwhile, Irani at her rally also attacked Rahul and accused him of lying. "Before last year's MP (Madhya Pradesh) assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi had promised loan waiver to farmers, but after his party came to power in the state he has betrayed them," she said. "Now he is saying that he does not have a magic wand," she added.

However, Rahul has always maintained in his election rallies that the Congress party fulfilled the promise of loan waivers to farmers. He said after coming to power in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan last year, Congress waived farms loans.
