After Centre claims Prajwal traveled on 'diplomatic passport', Siddaramaiah's retort
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused the central government of allegedly protecting Janata Dal (Secular) leader Prajwal Revanna, who is currently involved in a sex scandal. Siddaramaiah argued that international travel cannot take place without the Centre's knowledge, as "everyone's passport and visa are checked while traveling internationally." His comments came after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that Prajwal traveled to Germany using a diplomatic passport, which does not require a visa.
Siddaramaiah vows to bring Prajwal to justice
Siddaramaiah has pledged to ensure the return of Prajwal from wherever he may be hiding, whether it's Germany or Dubai. He also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cancel Prajwal's diplomatic passport, claiming that doing so would expedite his return to India. "Whichever country he is staying in, we will get him from there. That's why I have written a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to cancel his diplomatic passport," he said.
Prajwala sought a week-long grace period
Prajwal, who is the grandson of JD(S) founder and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, has asked for a week-long grace period before appearing before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate his case. The SIT has issued notices to both Prajwal and his father based on a complaint from one of the women involved in the case. On Friday, the SIT filed a second FIR against Prajwal.
Both Prajwal and his father named accused
Both Prajwal and his father, HD Revanna, have been named accused in the sexual harassment case. While a rape charge has been brought against Prajwal, a kidnapping charge has been filed against his father. According to reports, Prajwal's father allegedly abducted a mother of three children after her 20-year-old son filed a police report. The woman was allegedly abducted and raped by Prajwal. Siddaramaiah has now asked the police to secure the victims after the kidnapping case surfaced.
