Shashi Tharoor slyly calls PM Modi a scorpion
In what may open a can of controversies, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor while speaking about PM Narendra Modi, quoted an anonymous RSS source, and said he was like scorpion who can neither be removed by hand nor beaten by a chappal. Tharoor was speaking at a Bengaluru event related to his book 'The Paradoxical Prime Minister' on Saturday. Here's more on what he said.
Tharoor tells how an RSS source described PM Modi
Holding his book in hand, Tharoor said an RSS source described PM Modi in an apt manner while speaking to a journalist. "Modi is like a scorpion sitting on a Shivling, you can't remove him with your hand & you cannot hit it with a chappal either," the source said according to Tharoor. He then added the reference was best and explained why.
Further, Tharoor talks about Hindutva and its Moditva expression
Tharoor said if one attempts to remove scorpion by hand they may get stung, and if one hits a Shivling with a chappal sacred tenets of faith will be undermined. So, one just has to live with it. "That may well be a very interesting clue to the rather complex dynamics that exist between the Hindutva movement and Moditva expression of it," he added.

Earlier, Dr. Manmohan Singh had slammed his successor
Notably, Tharoor's book was released on Friday with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram attending the event. Criticizing the Centre, Dr. Singh said PM Modi has failed the electorate. He said even laudable initiatives like 'Swachh Bharat', skill development, Make in India and 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' were ill implemented. Your turn now, Mr. Modi!
