Bring Sena to power on its own in 2019: Minister
Shiv Sena leaders exhorted party workers to show their strength during its Dussehra rally on October 19 and bring the party to power on its own in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. This was discussed when the party met yesterday at Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar, Mumbai to plan their Dussehra rally strategy. BJP, however, expressed optimism in forging an alliance with the Sena.
Next Maharashtra CM should be from Sena: Desai
Addressing Sena cadres, senior party leader and Maharashtra's Industries Minister Subhash Desai said at least 5 lakh Shiv Sainiks must attend the traditional Dussehra rally. "We must come to power on our own strength. The next CM should be from Sena. The national executive committee has decided to contest next polls separately. Don't think about what BJP leaders say about the alliance," he said.
BJP feels Sena-BJP alliance needed to keep Congress, NCP away
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was firm on contesting elections separately. However senior BJP minister Sudhir Mungantiwar feels, "The BJP-Sena alliance is based on ideology." The executive committee of BJP is of the opinion that an alliance should be forged between them to keep the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) away from the power.
