Immediate loan waiver for farmers, announces new Maharashtra government
On Thursday, the newly-formed post-poll alliance of the Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Congress party, also known as the Maha Vikas Aghadi, released its Common Minimum Program, hours ahead of the CM-elect Uddhav Thackeray's swearing-in ceremony. The Program focuses on various issues, such as farmers, unemployment, social justice, women's safety, education, urban development, and tourism, among others. Here's more.
Thackeray-led government to take following steps for farmers' welfare
As far as the farmer issues of the state are concerned, the new government promises to provide immediate assistance to farmers suffering due to premature floods/rains. Additionally, it will grant immediate loan waiver to farmers. The Thackeray-led government further promises to revise scheme for farmer welfare, and carry out steps for the construction of sustainable water supply in draught-affected areas.
80% reservation in jobs for youth with state domicile
The upcoming coalition government promises to immediately initiate the process of filling up the vacant posts in state government. It would offer a fellowship for educated unemployed youth, and promises to enact a law meant for 80% reservation in jobs for youth with state domicile.
Government plans free education for girls from economically weaker sections
Shedding light on the government's intent toward ensuring women's safety and development in the state, the document entails free education for girls from economically weaker sections, construction of hostels for working women, increment in honorarium and service facilities for Anganwadi Sevikas and Asha workers. Separately, children of farm laborers and students from economically weaker sections have been promised education loan at zero interest rate.
Government to increase provision of free-of-cost area to slum dwellers
The government further stated that it shall increase the provision of 300 square feet free-of-cost carpet area to slum dwellers, to 500 square feet, under the Slum Rehabilitation program. That apart, the new government plans to start 'One Rupee' clinics at taluka levels, providing all pathological tests. It also ensures health insurance cover to every resident of the state.
