SP-spokesperson gets into scuffle with BJP-leader on live TV, detained
Taking the political discourse in the country to a new low, a Samajwadi Party spokesperson got into a scuffle with a Bharatiya Janata Party leader on live television, after which he was detained by Noida police on Saturday. Things got ugly during a panel discussion for a channel when SP spokesperson Anurag Bhadouria lost his cool on BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia. Know what happened.

Subsequently, Bhatia filed a police complaint at Noida Sector 20 police station and authorities swung to action. "While I was part of the panel discussion... he (Bhadouria) manhandled me, physically assaulted me and threatened me of consequences," Bhatia's complaint read. He also shared a clip of what happened inside the studio on Twitter, which invited many reactions from netizens.

SP loyalists protest after police action, blame Bhatia
After Bhadouria was detained, dozens of SP workers, led by MP Surendra Singh Nagar, staged a sit-in protest outside the police station. "During the show, Bhatia aggressively marched towards Anurag to assault him. Our spokesperson raised his hand in order to defend himself," Nagar said. He added Bhatia called the police and that they didn't know what sections were evoked in the case.

"Taking cognizance of the complaint, we have booked Bhadouria under Indian penal code Sections 352 and 506 for assault and criminal intimidation," said Manoj Pant, station house officer of Sector 20 police station.
