Union Minister Ramdas Athawale slapped at public event in Maharashtra

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale was slapped by a man yesterday at a public event in Ambernath town, Maharashtra.
The incident took place yesterday night as the MoS for Social Justice and Empowerment was coming down from the stage, a police official said.
The accused, identified as Pravin Gosavi, was later beaten up by Athawale's supporters.
Athawale is president of the Republican Party of India.

Police investigating why Gosavi attacked Athawale
After getting brutally beaten up by Athawale's supporters, Gosavi was shifted to the state-run J J hospital in Mumbai. He had received the initial treatment in Ambernath itself, police said. The motive behind the attack was not known and police are investigating the matter.
