Won't let PM sleep until all agricultural loans waived: RaGa
Addressing India's distressed farmers directly from Parliament, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said today he will not let PM Narendra Modi sleep until all farm loans have been waived. In a stinging attack on what he described as crony capitalism, Gandhi said the government has turned a blind eye to the loans given to industrialists of the country but did nothing to waive farmers' loans.
In two states, we waived loans in 6 hours: Rahul
Mentioning Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani, Gandhi said the government has turned a blind eye for 15 top industrialists of the country like Ambani, but has made no effort to alleviate the woes of farmers in the last four years. "We promised to waive loans in 10 days. In two states, we did it in six hours," said Gandhi outside the Parliament.
Poor people on one side, industrialists on other, alleges Rahul
"We'll not let PM Narendra Modi sleep until loans of all farmers are waived," said Gandhi, alleging that the loans of friends of Modi and BJP-president Amit Shah had been waived. Claiming that Rs. 3.5 lakh crore was waived for 15 people, including Anil Ambani, Gandhi said poor people and small shopkeepers were on one side and the group of industrialists on the other.
'There will be many more typos coming now'
Gandhi assured the people that the Congress and all other opposition parties would stand by them. Terming demonetization the world's biggest scam, he said the government had stolen from the public, shopkeepers, and farmers. When asked about government's claim on the "error" in the affidavit given to the Supreme Court on the Rafale issue, Gandhi remarked, "There will be many more typos coming now."
Will force JPC on the Rafale issue, says Congress president
The government claimed in its affidavit that the Rafale pricing issue has been looked into by the CAG whose report has been discussed in the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament. "We will force a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Rafale issue. Why are they (government and BJP) running away from a debate in Parliament," asked the Congress president.
