Rahul Gandhi accuses BJP, BRS of secretly aligning in Telangana
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of secretly aligning in the Lok Sabha elections. Speaking at an election rally in Kendrapara, Odisha, he claimed that in Telangana, "BJP and BRS joined forces; there was a wedding procession every day, with their daily theatrics." He further emphasized that the Congress party is the true opposition force by stating, "The Congress party showed in Telangana that BJP and BRS are one."
BRS is contesting elections in collaboration with Bahujan Samaj Party
The BRS, which is not part of either the ruling NDA or the opposition's bloc, is contesting the Lok Sabha elections in collaboration with the Bahujan Samaj Party. Gandhi claimed that the party's '5 guarantees' helped it dethrone the BRS and form a government in Telangana. He stated, "We gave five guarantees which gave money directly to..poor people of Telangana in their bank accounts...The result was that BRS lost, and Congress won the Assembly elections and formed the government."
KCR accuses Congress of securing power through false promises
Earlier, K Chandrasekhar Rao, former chief minister of Telangana, expressed his disappointment with both the Congress and the BJP for not delivering on their promises. He urged voters to support his party, BRS, in the Lok Sabha elections to ensure representation of people's interests. Rao also accused the Congress of securing power in Telangana through false promises and misinformation.
Gandhi claims BJD and BJP are in cahoots
At a different rally in Salepur, Cuttack, Gandhi claimed that PM Narendra Modi's government caters only to billionaires while chief minister Naveen Patnaik serves a select few in Odisha. He suggested that despite their apparent rivalry, the BJD and BJP are in fact allies. "Call it a partnership or marriage; both BJD and BJP are together," he declared. Furthermore, he criticized Patnaik, alleging that his aide VK Pandian is the one truly running the BJD government in Odisha.
