Rahul attacks Ambani over Rafale deal; calls him PM's 'BFF'
Attacking industrialist Anil Ambani, Congress President Rahul Gandhi yesterday said one can land Rafale deal contracts worth "Rs. 1.3 lakh crore" if he is the PM's "BFF" (best friend forever). Gandhi was commenting on the deal struck between French aerospace giant Dassault Aviation and Ambani's Reliance Defence after the BJP-led NDA government agreed with France to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets. Here's more.
You get Rs. 1,30,000 crore only if you're PM's BFF
"When your BFF is the PM, you (Ambani) can get the 1,30,000 cr Rafale deal, even without relevant experience. But wait. There's more! Apparently, 400,000 J&K Govt staff will also be arm-twisted into buying health insurance only from your company," Rahul tweeted.
The angst of Gandhi
J&K govt chose Reliance General Insurance to provide health insurance
A report by The Quint claimed that Reliance General Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ambani's Reliance Capital, was chosen by Jammu & Kashmir Government to provide health insurance for its employees, pensioners, and accredited journalists. Earlier, Ambani had rejected the Congress allegations on the Rafale offset contract and stated that "the government had no role in Dassault choosing his company as a partner."
