'Chadha in UK for surgery, could've lost eyesight': Delhi minister
Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha is currently in the United Kingdom, receiving medical treatment for a serious eye condition, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said on Tuesday. Bharadwaj stated, "Raghav is in the UK to get treatment after he suffered a complication in his eyes." He further added that the condition was severe and could have led to blindness if not treated promptly. Despite his physical absence, Chadha continues to participate in party activities via social media.
Chadha remains active in party affairs despite absence
Chadha has been vocal about recent party events, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's arrest and Sunita Kejriwal's political debut supporting AAP candidates in Delhi. Chadha also expressed concern over allegations that Tihar Jail authorities are withholding necessary medications from Kejriwal, a Type-II diabetes patient. Chadha described this as "extremely inhumane and against prison rules."

In London since March 8
According to earlier reports, Chadha has been in London since March 8 for a vitrectomy—a surgical procedure to prevent retinal detachment. He shared this information on social media platforms. During his stay, he attended an interactive session at the London India Forum 2024, hosted by the London School of Economics on March 9. His wife and Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra was also a speaker at this event.
BJP planning to get me, 3 AAP leaders arrested: Atishi
Notably, last month, AAP leader and Delhi Minister Atishi accused the BJP of threatening her and three other party leaders—including Chadha—with arrest unless they switch to the saffron party. "I have been told...soon there will be ED raids...we'll be taken into custody," she said. According to Atishi, the BJP is now "targeting" the next line of AAP leadership—Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Chadha and herself. The BJP has since issued a legal notice to the minister over her remarks.
Questions about Chadha's absence
Earlier this month, a flurry of questions were raised about Chadha's absence from the political scene after Kejriwal's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy. Rumors had circulating that Chadha might have been avoiding an ongoing investigation by the ED into the policy. However, there have been no developments that support this claim.
