Pon Radhakrishnan is an Indian politician who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Previously, he has served as the Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways in the NDA government. Radhakrishnan has also served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Finance between 2014-2019. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1981 and was later appointed as its secretary. In 1980, Radhakrishnan joined the Hindu Munnani and also worked as a co-organizer there. In 1999, he won the Lok Sabha elections from the Nagercoil constituency and was appointed as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs of the NDA government. In 2014, Radhakrishnan won a Lok Sabha seat in the Indian general election from the Kanyakumari constituency by 1,28,662 votes. During his tenure, he was appointed as the Minister of State in various departments like Finance, Shipping, and Heavy Industries. Radhakrishnan has also been involved in various controversies like the fishermen vote controversy and another one where he referred to the Tamil people as ‘ungrateful.’
