Police arrest man after Congress worker's body found in suitcase

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Himani Narwal, a Congress party worker from Haryana.
Narwal's body was found stuffed inside a suitcase near the Sampla bus stand by passers-by. The horrific discovery was made just a day ahead of the municipal elections.
Narwal, 22, had earlier joined Rahul Gandhi's "Bharat Jodo Yatra."
Her untimely death has led to demands for a thorough probe from her party colleagues.

Mother accuses party members in daughter's murder
Savita, the mother of deceased Congress worker, has now pointed fingers at her daughter's fellow party members for her murder.
She alleges some felt threatened by Narwal's burgeoning political career and her close ties with senior leaders like Gandhi.
"My daughter sacrificed a lot for Congress and party members used to visit our home," Savita told India Today TV, suggesting jealousy might have played a role in the crime.

Victim's mother claims lack of support from party leaders
Savita also said that no senior party leader has reached out to them after the tragedy.
"I met Asha Hooda, and Hooda Saheb knows us, but no Congress leader has spoken to us yet," she said.
India Today, citing sources, said that the accused, a native of Haryana's Bahadurgarh, had a relationship with Himani. Himani was allegedly blackmailing him and extorting lakhs of rupees from him.
Party response
Congress demands impartial investigation into worker's murder
In the wake of Narwal's murder, the Congress party took to social media to express condolences and demand an unbiased investigation.
Several leaders, including MLA BB Batra, have called for an SIT probe into the incident.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda, with whom Narwal had shared many photos, condemned Haryana's law and order situation.
The Haryana police are currently interrogating the accused and have indicated the possibility of more than one person being involved in the killing.
