PM Narendra Modi casts vote at polling booth in Ahmedabad
PM Narendra Modi today cast his vote in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections at a booth in Ahmedabad and appealed to people to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise. Modi arrived at the polling-station set up in Nishan High School, located in the Ranip area (Ahmedabad), in an open jeep in the morning and exercised his democratic right.
Amit Shah welcomed PM Modi, accompanied him to the booth
BJP president Amit Shah, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election from the Gandhinagar seat, welcomed PM Modi outside the school and accompanied him to the booth. Speaking to media, Modi said, "I feel blessed to have exercised my franchise in this biggest festival of democracy. The power of the voter ID is much more than IED (improvised explosive device) of terrorism."
PM Modi's mother also cast her vote in Gandhinagar today
The prime minister's mother Heeraben Modi also cast her vote today at a booth in the Gandhinagar district. Heeraben, 95, who lives with her younger son Pankaj Modi at Raisan village, located around 10 km from Gandhinagar city, arrived at the polling booth set up in the gram panchayat and exercised her franchise. She was accompanied by Pankaj and other family members.
Heeraben blessed her son for victory in ongoing LS polls
Earlier during the day, when Modi met her before casting his vote, Heeraben gave him a shawl, sweets and a coconut and blessed him for his victory in the ongoing LS polls. Polling in all the 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat is currently underway.
