If Congress wins, Pakistan will celebrate Diwali, says Vijay Rupani
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Sunday that if Congress wins upcoming general elections, Pakistan will celebrate Diwali. Rupani, however, noted it was "unlikely" that Congress would win. "The people of the country will ensure Narendrabhai (Narendra Modi) wins on May 23, after which there will be grief in Pakistan," said Rupani in Mehsana during the launch of BJP's Vijay Sankalp rally.
Pakistan and Congress leaders share same language: Rupani
Referring to senior Congress leader Sam Pitroda's statement, Rupani said members of the grand old party talked in "the same language" as Pakistan. He said the world knew that Pakistan sheltered terrorists but Congress took soft route. "Sam Pitroda, Rahul Gandhi's teacher, says it is wrong to blame Pakistan for the act of five-seven youths (who carried out the Pulwama attack)," he reminded.
Senior Congress leader thought strikes weren't the best option
To recall, Pitroda sparked a massive outrage last week after he suggested that muscular action against Pakistan isn't the best way to go forward. The overseas chief of Congress said attacking Pakistan after 26/11 attack would have been easy too, but "that is not the right approach". Soon Congress distanced itself from Pitroda's comments saying it was his personal opinion. Meanwhile, BJP slammed him.
Rupani accused Congress of insulting Army, breaking citizens' momentum
"They (Congress) are insulting Army, they are breaking the momentum of the citizens. Air Strike done by the government and press conference done by Army chiefs are being questioned. Whom are they supporting? Today it seems like Congress party is Pakistan's party," said Rupani.
Parties came together only to defeat PM Modi, added Rupani
Rupani also accused Congress of indulging in vote-bank politics and promoting "separatist forces". He called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah "sons of Gujarat" who were working for India. He noted Opposition parties were uniting just to defeat PM Modi. "The Congress, communists, terrorists, naxals, corrupt, Mamata, Mayawati, Akhilesh, Chandrababu... all selfish people have come together against Narendrabhai," Rupani said.
