Parliament's Monsoon session: 16 bills have been listed
With the monsoon session of Parliament beginning from July 17, the opposition would counter the government over a range of issues including national-security. The session will also see over 4,850 legislators casting their votes to elect the next President. A total of 16 Bills have been listed for passage in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament.
16 bills listed for consideration
Out of the 16 bills, these include drafts like the National Sports University Bill, 2017, the Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance (FDRI) Bill, 2017. Two bills have also been listed for withdrawal. However, both houses of Parliament may not transact much business because of the recent death of three members.
Opposition to have floor coordination to corner government
18 Opposition parties which are coming together to corner the government include the Congress, CPI-M, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, Nationalist Congress Party, BSP, Janata Dal-United, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and DMK. They are expected to raise questions over Sikkim stand-off, J&K's law and order situation regarding the Amarnath terror attack and incidents of lynching over beef controversy and suicide of farmers in some states.
Will raise issues related to farmers, improvement in GST: Congress
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala spoke about the number of issues that they'd be raising in the Parliament. He said that every issue that affected the national security and national interest is a matter of concern. Inclusion of petroleum, electricity and real estate in the GST would be demanded by the Congress. It will also raise issues pertaining to farmers' distress in Mandsaur region.
RJD, TMC, AIADMK among others to question government
Other than Congress, CPI-M leader Mohammad Salim will be raising issues concerning tension on the border and that of mob lynching and the agrarian crisis. TMC and RJD will raise the issue of vendetta politics. Meanwhile, AIADMK will raise the issue of National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET) in the upcoming Parliament session, to protect the interest of the students from Tamil Nadu.
