Rahul Gandhi insulted Maharajas but ignored Nawabs' atrocities: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday of insulting India's Rajas and Maharajas while remaining silent on the atrocities committed by Nawabs, Nizams, Sultans, and Badshahs. PM Modi claimed that these criticisms against the Rajas and Maharajas were made for the sake of appeasement politics. During a gathering in Belagavi, Karnataka, he stated, "Congress has ensured the writings of our history and our freedom struggle with an eye on appeasement and vote bank."
PM Modi accuses Gandhi of disrespecting historical figures
PM Modi further accused Gandhi of disrespecting historical figures like Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Kittur Rani Chennamma. "Does the Shehzada (Gandhi) not know the contribution of the Mysuru Royal family, whom we all are proud of?" he asked. He noted that Congress does not remember the crimes committed by Aurangzeb, who destroyed thousands of temples. "Congress forms..alliances with parties that praise Aurangzeb. They do not talk about those who destroyed our pilgrimage sites...killed our people and killed cows," he added.
PM was referring to a video clip of Gandhi
The prime minister was referring to a video clip of Gandhi from a recent rally in Karnataka. In the video clip, the Congress MP is heard saying, "During the rule of Rajas and Maharajas, they could do whatever they want, even grab someone's land." "The Congress, along with the people of the country, achieved independence and brought democracy."
PM Modi accuses Congress of seeking support from PFI
PM Modi also claimed that since the Congress took power in Karnataka, the state's law and order situation has worsened. He cited instances of violence and alleged negligence by the state government, such as the case of murdered student Neha Hiremath. The prime minister further accused Congress of seeking support from the banned organization PFI to secure votes, stating, "To win one seat in Wayanad, are you surrendering to them? BJP has banned PFI and put its leaders behind bars."
