'Modi would've inaugurated Pune Metro 6th time...': Supriya Sule's swipe
Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) MP Supriya Sule on Thursday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that he had already inaugurated the metro in Pune five times. She made these remarks after PM Modi's visit to Maharashtra's Pune was canceled due to heavy rainfall. "The inauguration of the metro for which PM Modi was scheduled to visit Pune, has already been done five times," she said.
Sule criticizes Maharashtra government over PM's repeated visits
Sule also criticized the Mahayuti government for repeatedly involving PM Modi in the same project. She added, "This is very shocking that the Maharashtra government was seeking time from a busy person like PM Modi for the same task." PM Modi was scheduled to inaugurate the metro line between District Court and Swargate in Pune and unveil development projects totaling ₹22,600 crore.

However, his visit was postponed due to heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening that left the SP College ground, the venue of his program, waterlogged. "The PM's visit to Pune has been canceled and the program officially postponed," said Pune divisional commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar. The new date for his visit would be announced later.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert for heavy rains on Thursday, leading to the cancelation of PM Modi's program. Maharashtra Metro spokesperson Hemant Sonawane stated, "The program has been canceled due to the orange alert (for heavy rains) issued for Thursday by the IMD." He added that if there were rains, people coming for the program may face hassles, so for their safety, the program was canceled. Maharashtra will go to polls later in the year.
