In Varanasi, PM Modi to launch BJP's membership drive
What's the story
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Saturday to launch BJP's nationwide membership drive.
This marks PM Modi's second visit to the temple town after BJP registered a glorious victory in Lok Sabha polls, held in April and May.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote this drive will "connect people from all walks of life with the BJP family".
Itinerary
PM Modi will unveil statue of Lal Bahadur Shastri
PM Modi will land in Varanasi at around 10 AM, and unveil a statue of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at 10:30 AM.
At 10:55 AM, he is scheduled to launch a tree plantation drive.
The membership drive will be launched at 11:30 AM and at 1:30 PM, PM Modi will join the program. Later, he will visit Virtual Museum at Man Mahal.

Address
PM Modi will address 5,000 workers, Nadda will accompany him
The membership drive will be launched at Deendayal Upadhyaya Trade Facilitation Center in Bada Lalpur and PM Modi is expected to address 5,000 workers.
Separately, about the Virtual Museum, he wrote, "Situated near the iconic Dashashwamedh Ghat, this is a cultural landmark of the city. It showcases aspects of our great cultural heritage."
He will be accompanied by BJP Working President JP Nadda.
First visit
After winning elections, PM Modi visited Varanasi to thank voters
To recall, PM Modi visited Varanasi on May 27, days after he won polls by a splendid margin of 4.79 lakh votes.
In 2014 polls, he won by a vote margin of almost 3 lakh votes.
On his thanksgiving trip, he visited the iconic Kashi Vishwanath temple. As his convoy moved towards the streets of Varanasi, the crowd broke into chants of "Modi, Modi".

Drive
Anyone can join BJP by giving missed call, said Chouhan
About BJP's membership drive, former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan said at least 20% more workers are expected to be added into BJP's fold.
Chouhan revealed anyone can become a member by giving a missed call on a mobile number, or by filing a form.
The drive will end on August 11.

Shah, Gadkari, and Rajnath will also participate in similar events
Apart from PM Modi's mega event in Varanasi, other senior leaders of BJP will also participate in similar membership drives. Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Nitin Gadkari will address events in Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Nagpur respectively.
