After successful roadshow, PM Modi talks about Pulwama attack (again)
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who held a massive roadshow in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi on Thursday, said India would not tolerate terror. Once again, he invoked the Pulwama attack in his address from Dashashwamedh Ghat. He also spoke about last week's terror attack in Sri Lanka in which over 200 people lost their lives. Meanwhile, PM Modi will file his nomination on Friday.
People of Varanasi came on streets to welcome PM Modi
PM Modi's power-packed roadshow shut all critics who claimed people of Varanasi weren't happy with their representative in the Lok Sabha. A sea of supporters attended the over seven kilometers roadshow as PM Modi waved and smiled at them. He was showered with flowers and chants of 'Modi Modi', 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', 'Main Bhi Chowkidar', and 'Har Har Mahadev' filled the air.
PM Modi started roadshow at BHU, ended at Dashashwamedh
The massive roadshow started at iconic Lanka Gate of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He then moved towards Assi, Bhadaini, Madanpura, Sonarpura, and Godaulia. PM Modi ended his journey at the holiest ghats of them all- Dashashwamedh. He also attended Ganga aarti. BJP claimed PM Modi's roadshow was attended by nearly 6 lakh people. It trumped his rallies in 2014 by a huge margin.
Will return to Kashi after winning, promised PM Modi
"If you permit, I will file my nominations from here tomorrow. And will return to thank you all after winning," he said to the massive crowd who chanted 'Modi Modi'. Separately, he tweeted that people's blessings gave him "unparalleled strength".
After Pulwama attack, 42 terrorists have been neutralized: PM Modi
Speaking on terrorism, PM Modi recalled that 40 soldiers were martyred in Pulwama attack. "After this attack, 42 terrorists in that area have been neutralized. This is our way of working," he said. "Whether it is the Pulwama attack, Uri attack or any other issue, I have only one mantra with which I have lived -- the country comes first," he boasted.
"Now, common man can get in touch with government"
About the changes he brought in governance, PM Modi said earlier it was difficult for a common man to reach out to the government. "But today, a common resident can reach out to their leaders," he added. He told people of Kashi that he will not let the holy city's dignity be harmed at any cost. PM Modi said Kashi taught him a lot.
PM Modi has transformed Varanasi, said a first-time voter
The supporters who turned up at the event were in awe of PM Modi. One supporter told DNA, "Before 2014 we had a Prime Minister who only 'condemned' (terror activities). Now, we have a Prime Minister who bombs Pakistan." Meanwhile, a first-time voter added, "PM Modi has transformed Varanasi. Only those who live here can tell how he brought in development to the constituency."
