#MainBhiChowkidaar: While his opponents are sleeping, Modi launches catchy campaign
Ahead of the much-anticipated general elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the Main Bhi Chowkidaar campaign, and soon it became a talking point on social media. In a direct attack to the Opposition's Chowkidaar Chor Hai jibe, PM Modi wrote on Twitter that everyone who is working for the progress of India is a chowkidaar. Here's all about it.
BJP translated Opposition's attack into poll slogan
The Bharatiya Janata Party has entered into full-blown campaign mode and the latest video proves the same. Since the last few days, BJP has been speaking about the achievements of PM Modi. The party promoted his schemes using the tag line Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai. And now the saffron party took another stride by turning the Opposition's attack into its campaign slogan.
Before 2014, PM Modi asked people to vote for "chowkidaar"
The word chowkidaar found a place in Indian politics before the 2014 parliamentary elections. PM Modi, who was the Chief Minister of Gujarat at the time, told voters that if he wins elections he will guard the nation like a chowkidaar. His campaign struck with a large population and as a result BJP won 282 seats. The party is eyeing a similar success.
Rahul used "chowkidaar" word to slam PM Modi
However, of late Congress President Rahul Gandhi used chowkidaar to accuse PM Modi of corruption. Notably, Rahul has been slamming PM Modi over the multi-crore Rafale deal and has claimed that he changed the contract to help Anil Ambani become an offset partner. Following his barbs, Congress leaders started using the Chowkidaar Chor Hai slogan to criticize the Centre.
Rahul's Rafale attacks haven't stopped
"Five years ago, chowkidar said he wanted to fight corruption. He said he wanted to make it a 'Congress-mukt Bharat'. Today, the slogan of Acche Din Aayenge has changed to Chowkidar Chor hai," Rahul said at a recent rally.
In a decorated platter, Congress gave BJP its poll campaign
Reportedly, a survey conducted by BJP revealed that the public wasn't happy with Chowkidaar Chor Hai jibe which gave birth to the new campaign. BJP tapped on emotions of the common man to build the narrative. The song which was released also had references to the Indian Army to send across a message that BJP will "save the nation".

Congress doesn't even have a slogan in place
A quick assessment of campaign battles confirms that BJP is leading the race. Congress has failed to come up with even one phrase and its loyalists are using BJP's slogans to attack PM Modi. Don't they know they are just helping BJP and not countering it? With elections starting in less than a month, Congress really needs to pull its socks up.
