Maharashtra elections 2019: Salman Khan's bodyguard Shera joins Shiv Sena
Just three days before the crucial Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Bollywood actor Salman Khan's long-time aide Gurmeet Singh alias Shera joined the Shiv Sena on Friday, ANI reported. He joined the party in the presence of its chief Uddhav Thackeray and Yuva Sena President, Aditya Thackeray at their residence Matoshree in Mumbai. Shiv Sena took to its official Twitter account to announce the development.

Shera has been working with Salman for over two decades
Born and raised in Mumbai, Gurmeet, popularly known as Shera, has been working with superstar Salman Khan for more than 20 years now. In fact, Salman dedicated his 2011 film Bodyguard to Shera, who also made a special appearance in it. To recall, back in October 2016, a case was filed against Shera for physical assault. However, he denied the allegations.
Elections in Maharashtra on October 21; results on October 24
It should be noted that Assembly elections in Maharashtra will be held on October 21, along with polls in the northern state of Haryana. Poll results shall be declared jointly for both states on October 24. Out of the total 288 seats up for grabs, ruling BJP (plus allies) is contesting on 164 seats, while partner Shiv Sena has fielded candidates from 124 seats.
Aditya to be first Thackery family member to contest elections
The upcoming elections also mark the formal entry of Uddhav's son Aditya into state politics. He is contesting the Assembly polls from Worli constituency in Mumbai. Notably, the 29-year-old newcomer is the first member of the Thackeray family to contest elections. It is expected that Aditya will win his maiden elections quite easily from Worli, which happens to be a Sena stronghold.
A look at key seats in the upcoming polls
The sitting Chief Minister and BJP stalwart Devendra Fadnavis will once again be contesting from the Nagpur South West seat. On the other hand, former CM, Congress' Ashok Chavan will lock horns with the saffron party's Bapusaheb Gorthekar from Bhokar Assembly seat. Meanwhile, NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who recently resigned as MLA, shall be seeking a re-election from Baramati constituency in western Maharashtra.
