Bhagwat: 'Hindustan is country of Hindus, but doesn't exclude others'
RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing a gathering of college-going RSS volunteers in Indore, said as Germany is a country of Germans, Britain is a country of Britishers, Hindustan is a country of Hindus. However, "it doesn't mean that Hindustan is not the country of other people." He also said that government alone can't bring about development; society also needs to contribute through change.
Who are Hindus?
Bhagwat explained the concept of Hindus. He said,"the term Hindu covers all those who are the sons of Bharat Mata, descendants of Indian ancestors and who live in accordance with the Indian culture."
'Only if society is prepared can the country be great'
Bhagwat said to bring a change in national character, society needs to be prepared. He said, "In ancient times, people looked to God for development, but in 'Kalyuga' people look to government. But the fact is, the government can go only as far as the society goes." To make India a 'vishwa guru,' "we will have to eliminate thoughts of discrimination on all grounds."
