Modi storms North-East: Inaugurations at Arunachal and poll-rallies at Tripura
To integrate North-East with the rest of India, PM Modi claimed that ministers visit the area "very regularly." He made this remark at BJP-ruled Arunachal Pradesh's capital Itanagar. After attending a slew of functions in Arunachal, he proceeded to attend two election rallies in Tripura. In Tripura, Modi accused the Left Front of running "Sarkar's sarkar," referring to CM Manik Sarkar.
In Arunachal, Modi participated in three programs
This was PM Modi's first visit to Arunachal since the infamous Doklam standoff between India and China. There, he inaugurated the Dorjee Khandu state convention centre, dedicated the state Civil Secretariat building to the people, and laid the foundation stone for the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science's academic block. He also praised CM Pema Khandu for preparing a "top quality road-map" for the state.
'My Arunachal speaks best Hindi in entire North-east'
In Arunachal, Modi highlighted his government's achievements like easy delivery of services through the Secretariat, pushing for medical education, plans to begin a train service between New Delhi and Naharlagun and strengthening Direct Benefit Transfer. He also spoke about how the BJP government has improved transparency/accountability in Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Moreover, he further wants to improve Arunachal's tourism industry.
Meanwhile, China was upset with Modi's Arunachal visit
Meanwhile, China wasn't too happy with PM Modi's visit. China claims Arunachal in the eastern Himalayas as "South Tibet." Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang exclaimed "China's position on the China-India boundary question is consistent and clear-cut. The Chinese government has never recognised the so-called Arunachal Pradesh and is firmly opposed to the Indian leader's visit to the disputed area."
'Left believes in Gun-tantra, not Ganatantra'
After ending his speech amid chants of "Jai Hind" in Arunachal, Modi proceeded to rouse Tripura with "Chalo Paltai." He slammed the Left saying people have suffered for 25 years under them. Referring to the alleged killings of BJP workers, PM Modi claimed Left doesn't believe in gantrantra (democracy) but "gun-tantra." Further, he declared that Tripura's development is stagnated due to "red light."
'Congress leaders avoiding Tripura, not serious about polls'
Modi also slammed Congress. He said both Left and Congress are "vote katau party." "They are friends in Delhi but faking a combat in Tripura," he added. Urging people to vote for BJP, he asserted that Congress wasn't serious about elections, as none of their "top leaders" have campaigned there. He alleged that this was a covert agreement between Left and Congress.
Wait. Did he even mention BJP?
Apart from slamming opposition, Modi dedicated a line or two to BJP's promises, if voted to power. He said they will conduct a high-level probe into all political killings and killings of journalists. Further, BJP will provide minimum wages to workers after coming to power. Appealing to the youth, Modi claimed that BJP will form the youngest government in Tripura.
