PM Modi in Gujarat: Diwali has come early for Indians
PM Modi, on a two-day visit to poll-bound Gujarat, while addressing the crowd at Dwarka referred to the GST Council meeting and claimed that "Diwali has come early for our citizens due to the decisions taken in the GST Council." What are Modi's plans for today?
Modi began his tour by visiting the Dwarkadhish temple. Subsequently, he laid the foundation stone for four national highways projects at Dwarka worth Rs. 5,825cr. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Rs. 2,500cr greenfield Rajkot International Airport. He will also launch the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA), an initiative that aims to impart digital literacy among people in rural areas.
Day 2: Modi's itinerary includes personal, social and developmental visits
On day 2, Modi will, for the first time since he became PM, visit his birthplace Vadnagar. Then, he will visit the Hatkeshwar Temple and distribute e-tablets to health workers for launching the Innovative mobile-phone Technology for Community Health Operations (ImTeCHO) to support rural health. Modi will then proceed to Bharuch and lay the foundation stone for Bhadbhut Barrage to be built over Narmada.
Modi's speech at Dwarka promises development for the region
Modi spoke at the event laying the foundation stone for the national highways project. He said that developing Dwarka was necessary to attract more tourists to Gir. He asserted that building such infrastructure will enhance economic activities. Modi also spoke about helping fishermen by providing loans to buy bigger boats and developing ports. He promised to set up an institute for marine security there.
