Modi: Congress dislikes me because of my poor origins
PM Narendra Modi began the next leg of his Gujarat campaign by taunting Congress Yuva Desh's "chai-wala" meme. He claimed that Congress dislikes him because of his "poor origins." He said "Yes, a person belonging to a poor family has become PM. Yes, I sold tea but I did not sell the nation." Ahead of the upcoming assembly polls, Modi addressed rallies in Kutch.
'Gujarat is my Atma, Bharat is my Parmatma'
Modi said, "Whatever I have achieved in the past 15 years is because of Gujarat." Going down memory lane, Modi said after the Kutch earthquake, AB Vajpayee asked him to come to Gujarat. Thus, he owes his training in administration to Kutch.
'Congress celebrated Hafiz Saeed's release'
Mocking Congress VP Rahul Gandhi's "hugplomacy" tweet, Modi said Congress was "celebrating" Hafiz Saeed's release. Further, Modi said "When our soldiers were standing eye-to-eye in Doklam for 70 days, why were you hugging the Chinese ambassador." He exclaimed the difference between Congress and the BJP can be seen in how India responded to 26/11 and Uri attacks, respectively.
'Congress never talks about Kamraj, Acharya Kripalani, Subhas Babu'
Modi wondered why Congress never spoke about leaders like Kamraj, Acharya Kripalani, Subhas Babu and UN Dhebar who belonged to Gujarat. Answering his own question, he said this was because "it talks about only one family." He stated "everyone knows how Congress treated Sardar Patel and Morarji Desai." Further, he said Congress was unfair to Patidar leaders like Babubhai Patel and Chimanbhai Patel.
Modi's other jibes at Congress
Modi slammed Congress for criticizing demonetization saying "I have grown up in the same land as Sardar Patel and will not allow this nation to be looted." With a veiled reference at AAP, Modi said "a new party in Delhi" abuses and runs away. He said Congress is following suit and "hurling lies." He reiterated that this election is dynasty (Congress) versus development (BJP).
Modi underlines Gujarat's development under BJP
Modi said BJP has served Gujarat "without any discrimination." He said law and order has improved. BJP is also making healthcare affordable for the poor. While speaking at Amreli, Modi said BJP tried to harness the coastal economy in the district, focusing on "blue economy." Further, BJP got dairies to Saurashtra and Amreli is an emerging hub for dairy cooperatives since two decades.
What else did Modi do?
Modi addressed public rallies in Bhuj, Jasdan, Dhari and Kamrej in Saurashtra, South Gujarat, which goes to polls on December 9. Earlier, he visited Mata no Madh in Gujarat and sought the blessings of Ashapura Mata. Modi will next address four rallies on November 29.
