MCD 2017 Results: Who said what

    What's the story

Three hours after counting for the MCD elections started, the BJP was gaining massive ground, ahead from its rivals AAP and Congress in 180 seats out of 272.

Although local in nature, a win will secure BJP's standing in the national field as it gains one victory after the other in different regional elections.

Here's a look at how different quarters reacted.

    AAP

AAP sings its tune of 'EVM tampering'

AAP leaders continued their rhetoric against alleged EVM tampering by the BJP.

"BJP's hasn't done 1 good thing in the last 10 yrs in MCD. EVM tampering behind BJP's win," Ashutosh, spokesperson of AAP said.

Manish Sisodia tweeted, "After winning 2009 elections, BJP spent 5 years researching EVMs and won elections today because of that."

Gopal Rai termed it an "EVM wave", not "Modi-wave".

    Congress

    Congress introspects, lauds "revival"

Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit said the party should have focused more on aggressive campaigning. "I didn't do it because no one asked me," she added.

Dikshit also said the government and EC should clear doubts regarding EVMs.

Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor tweeted, "Congratulations to @BJP4India on MCD win, & congrats also to @INCIndia for vast improvement from 9.6% in 2015. Revival has begun @ajaymaken."

    BJP

BJP calls it a win against AAPs "arrogance, abuses"

Union Minister of Science & Technology Dr. Harsh Vardhan tweeted, "When you abuse the PM, you're not abusing a political party but entire 125 crore people of the country. And this is how people reply, Mr AK."

Sambit Patra listed out three As behind Kejriwal's failure: "his arrogance, aspirations and continuous accusations".

    Delhiites

Delhiites caution BJP, urge better performance

Delhiites also had a word of caution for the BJP, crediting Modi wave and anger against AAP for the win more than the party's performance since the last ten years.

"Credit solely goes to PM Modi coz MCD's performance was not praiseworthy," tweeted @s_navroop.

"Now that BJP has swept MCD elections again, hope they will start to sweep the roads as well!" said @jayantrld.
