#MadhyaPradeshResults: Mayawati comes to Congress' rescue, declares support
What's the story
BSP Chief Mayawati on Wednesday announced she will supporting Congress in Madhya Pradesh and if required, in Rajasthan too.
The party won 2 seats in the assembly elections in MP, whose results were declared earlier today. At the end of counting, which lasted 24 hours, Congress emerged single largest party winning 114 seats.
It fell short of majority mark, 116, needed to form a government.
Details
Earlier, Mayawati pulled out of alliance with Congress
It should be noted that in October this year, before the state went to polls, Mayawati ditched the Congress.
She slammed former Congress CM Digvijaya Singh and accused him of destroying her party. Back then she said, the mistakes haven't taught the party anything.
Continuing to express her displeasure with Congress, Mayawati said though they don't support the policies, BSP will support the party.

Close fight
Chouhan fought tooth and nail but couldn't defeat anti-incumbency
In what qualified as an epic nail-biting contest, Congress and BJP were neck-to-neck with each other in MP. The counting started at 8 AM on Tuesday and was completed a day later.
BJP, which was battling 15 years of anti-incumbency, won 109 seats in the central state. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan defeated Congress' Arun Yadav from Budhni by a margin of 58,999 votes.
Forming government
The Congress has approached governor, Kamal Nath could be CM
With majority seats on its side, the Congress quickly swung to action and sent a letter to governor Anandiben Patel. The party didn't rely on the fax machine and got the letter, staking claim to form government, hand-delivered.
The Congress will soon pick its CM candidate and it is likely that Kamal Nath, the president of state Congress, will be crowned.
