Demonetization protest: Mamata says change profile photo to black
The opposition has been taking a cue from Modi about playing with acronyms. After Congress VP Rahul Gandhi's famous taunt calling GST "Gabbar Singh Tax," now WB CM Mamata Banerjee has termed GST a "Great Selfish Tax to harass people and finish the economy." She urged social media users to change their profile photos to a black square on November 8 to protest demonetization.
What else did Mamata say?
Mamata termed demonetization a disaster and insisted that people protest against the "scam." She tweeted that GST's implementation took away jobs, hurt businesses and finished the economy. She slammed the government for failing to tackle GST. She also changed her Twitter display photo to black.
Meanwhile, prepare for a pandemonium on November 8
Meanwhile, expect November 8, demonetization's anniversary, to be steeped in rhetoric. Eighteen political parties, including Congress and TMC, have planned to observe it as "Black Day" across the country. The Aam Aadmi Party will observe the day as "Fraud Day," highlighting the wrong decisions taken by the BJP. However, BJP will promote it as "Anti-Black Money Day," emphasizing on demonetization's benefits.
