BJP destroyed Ambedkar's Constitution, will not win 200 seats: Mamata
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of destroying the constitution drafted by BR Ambedkar. During a rally in Jalpaiguri, she claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guarantees are "false" and that the BJP will not even win 200 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Banerjee also expressed concern over attempts to tarnish West Bengal's reputation following the arrests of two men in relation to an explosion at the Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru.
Banerjee defends West Bengal's reputation amidst safety concerns
Banerjee defended West Bengal's reputation, stating that the individuals implicated in the Rameshwaram cafe blast were residents of Karnataka. She emphasized that the Bengal Police tracked them down. "An incident took place in Bengaluru. The accused were based in Karnataka. They were in East Midnapore for just two hours," she explained. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa and Mussavir Hussain Shazib in West Bengal's Digha on Friday after a 42-day manhunt.
TMC and West Bengal Police refute BJP's allegations
Since the arrests, BJP leaders have accused the state administration of making Bengal a safe haven for criminals and terrorists. On Friday, BJP leader Amit Malviya called West Bengal a "safe haven for terrorists," prompting quick responses from Banerjee and the state police. Calling the claims "falsehood at its worst," the West Bengal police wrote, "Suspects in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case have been arrested...in a JOINT operation by the West Bengal Police and Central Intelligence Agencies."
