Madhya Pradesh bypolls: Voting begins for Mungaoli and Kolaras constituencies
Voting for bypolls in Madhya Pradesh's two Assembly segments - Mungaoli and Kolaras began at 8 am on Saturday. The seats are in the Guna Lok Sabha constituency, represented by Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia. A poll official said, "An error was reported in the EVM machine in the beginning at booth number 57 of Kolaras, but it was rectified and polling began soon after."
Bypolls were necessitated due to the death of Congress MLAs
According to reports, the bypolls for the two seats were necessitated due to the death of Congress MLAs Mahendra Singh Kalukheda (Mungaoli) and Ram Singh Yadav (Kolaras). Madhya Pradesh's deputy chief electoral officer SS Bansal said, "Polling is going on peacefully at all the polling booths in the two constituencies and no untoward incident was so far reported from anywhere."
22 candidates from Kolaras, 13 from Mungaoli trying their luck
A total number of 22 candidates are in the fray in Kolaras, while 13 are trying their luck in Mungaoli. The total number of voters in the two constituencies are 2,44,457 in Kolaras and 1,91,009 in Mungaoli.
