Kharge urges ECI to act against Modi's 'Ram temple-bulldozer' remark
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of inciting voters with his repeated claims that the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc would "run bulldozer over Ram Temple if voted to power." Kharge called on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take action against such provocative speeches. He stated, "The Election Commission should take action against those who make instigating speeches. The Prime Minister himself is doing it. He is provoking people."
Kharge criticizes ECI's decision favoring BJP supporters
Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai alongside Sharad Pawar and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Kharge criticized the ECI's decision to grant party symbols to factions supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra. He argued that these symbols should have been given to the "real parties" instead. "The party symbol was taken away from the real parties and given to the parties supporting BJP," Kharge asserted, expressing his disapproval of ECI's decision.
Kharge accuses PM Modi of supporting 'illegal' Maharashtra government
Kharge further accused PM Modi of backing the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, which he termed illegal and formed on the basis of betrayal and conspiracy. He alleged that PM Modi's rallies in Maharashtra were aimed at creating a rift among the people. "The Prime Minister himself is supporting it and his rallies are also being held in Maharashtra and wherever he goes, he tries to create a rift among the people," Kharge claimed.
Kharge predicts sweeping victory for INDIA bloc in Maharashtra
The Congress chief also expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc's performance in Maharashtra, predicting a sweeping victory for his alliance. "INDIA bloc will win 46 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra," he said. Regarding the alliance dynamics between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress, who are fighting together against BJP in Delhi but against each other in Punjab, Kharge stated, "This is a democracy, it is not autocracy. We will do whatever has to be done to defeat BJP."
