Kejriwal, Rahul won't vote for their respective parties: Raghav Chadha
In his first poll meeting for the Lok Sabha elections, Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be voting for the Congress and Rahul Gandhi will be voting for the AAP when the national capital goes to polls. Chadha said, "Press on the 'jhadu' (AAP's poll symbol)...support...Kejriwal. When...Gandhi goes to cast his vote on May 25, he will vote for the AAP...when...Kejriwal casts his vote, he will vote for the Congress."
Why does this story matter?
Chadha's address to voters was his first since returning from the United Kingdom following his eye surgery. The MP has been away from the political sphere for quite some time due to his ailment that reportedly could have led to blindness. To recall, in 2019, Chadha contested from the South Delhi constituency but lost to Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ramesh Bidhuri. "This time, I believe that we will win with the highest number of votes in South Delhi," he said.
'This election is about saving country, Constitution'
Chadha was at the poll meeting on Tuesday in support of the party's Lok Sabha candidate, Sahiram Pahalwan. He said, "I am here to support my brother not only because he is a good person but also because this election is about saving the country and the Constitution." "The future of your children depends on your vote," the Rajya Sabha MP added.
Chadha highlights AAP's achievements
Chadha also talked about the savings made by Delhi citizens per month under the AAP's government. "Since the AAP came into power, people of Delhi have saved around ₹ 18,000 per month on electricity, medicines, water, school fees, and women also save on bus travel costs," he said. Notably, he was also present at the AAP's protest on Sunday near the BJP headquarters. Before the protest march, Kejriwal had accused the BJP of orchestrating "Operation Jhadu" to suppress the AAP.
AAP, Congress alliance in Delhi
All seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will go to the polls in the sixth phase of the elections on May 25. The Congress and the AAP will be contesting the polls together, with the former fielding candidates in three constituencies and the latter fielding candidates in four constituencies. AAP candidates will contest in New Delhi, South Delhi, West Delhi, and East Delhi, while Congress candidates will contest in Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, and North West Delhi.
