"So what?": Kumaraswamy on 'higher education' minister being Class-8 passed
On one hand, students are being stressed out by the intense competition. On the other, people without matriculation are becoming education ministers. And new Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy doesn't think there's anything wrong with it. "What have I studied? I'm working as the CM," he told reporters when they asked him about the allotment of the higher education portfolio to GT Devegowda, who's passed Class-8.
Some in alliance reportedly left upset by portfolio allocation
Kumaraswamy allocated portfolios Friday after days of negotiations between allies Congress and JD(S). The CM (JD(S)) retained finance, while giving home to his deputy G Parameshwara (Congress). But it left some like GT Devegowda and CS Puttaraju, who got the minor irrigation portfolio, upset. GT Devegowda, who defeated former CM Siddaramaiah in Chamundeshwari, was reportedly seeking key portfolios.
'Opportunity to work efficiently exists in every department'
When asked about the matter, Kumaraswamy said, "Some people will have wish to work in certain departments, but in every department there is opportunity to work efficiently." The B.Sc degree holder then asked, "What have I studied? I'm working as the CM." "There will be demand for certain ministries, but certain decisions are made internally in the party," he added.

The CM also responded to earlier comments of his which drew flak, when he said he was at the "mercy" of Congress and not of the people. "What I meant was, so long as they (Congress) support me I can continue. So whatever programs we have to pursue, I will be at the mercy of Congress," he had clarified.
