Karnataka: Congress plans massive fund collection ahead of 2019 elections
In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress unit in Karnataka has planned a massive people contact and funds collection program through its booth-level workers from October 2, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge, KC Venugopal, said. The door-to-door Sampark Abhiyan and fund collection program will be conducted till October 19.
Each booth committee expected to collect at least Rs. 10,000
In the campaign, Congress workers will be joined by booth presidents and leaders, who will visit every house, give campaign materials, and request for funds. Each booth committee is expected to collect at least Rs. 10,000, of which 50% will go to AICC. Of the rest, 20% will go to the block committees and 15% each to district Congress committees and Pradesh Congress Committee.
Congress also planning program for collecting data of voters, donors
The Congress also intends to run a special program called 'Shakti', which aims to put special focus on people in the 18-21 age group. The party will collect relevant data about each voter and donor, which can be synergized with the 'Shakti' program for a constant connect between the party and people. This program will be taken up in an aggressive manner, Venugopal said.
Venugopal blames BJP for rampant corruption in India
Speaking about the 2019 elections, Venugopal said, "We're very much confident that we can win majority of seats from Karnataka in the coming Parliamentary elections. Before that, we're equipping our party functionaries from grassroots to top-level." Alleging that corruption is rampant under BJP rule at the Center, Venugopal said the BJP intentionally didn't appoint Lokpal as the institution would have exposed the government's "wrongdoings".
