Haasan rules out alliance with Rajinikanth over his saffron politics
Speaking at Harvard University during the launch of his website, veteran actor Kamal Haasan, who is on the verge of officially entering electoral politics, ruled out tie-ups with Rajinikanth because the latter's politics has a "hue of saffron". Haasan added that he's starting his own party because of his unwillingness to work with existing parties. Here's more on what Haasan had to say.
Haasan rules out post-poll alliances
"If there is no majority, it's the people's verdict. Then I would not have to sit but stand and wait for the next time," said Haasan, ruling out post-poll alliances and indicating his willingness to sit in the Opposition if his party doesn't win.

Haasan will announce the name of his political party on 21st February when he embarks on a state-wide political tour called "Nalai Namadhe" (Tomorrow is Ours) from Rameswaram. Slamming the current lot of politicians in Tamil Nadu, Haasan said that he's looking to eliminate mediocrity and change the status quo in Tamil Nadu. He urged the participation of Tamilians from around the world.
Haasan has plans to create world-class model villages
"I am announcing a plan of adopting a village in every district of Tail Nadu... With the vision of making them the best villages in the world," said Haasan, stressing on his plans to create model sustainable villages along the lines of Mahatma Gandhi's vision.
Haasan looking to work independently from other parties
Pointing out differences between his own politics and Rajinikanth's, Haasan said that his politics "will definitely not be saffron". However, despite their political differences, Haasan said that Rajinikanth and he remained good friends. Haasan added that Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party head Arvind Kejriwal had met him in Chennai and had offered an alliance.
