Kamal Haasan: You can't say there is no Hindu terror
Actor Kamal Haasan, who plans on taking the political plunge, slammed Hindu terror, claiming it's not a new phenomenon. In his weekly column in Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan, he said "earlier Hindu extremists held dialogue, but now indulge in violence." Haasan's column was in response to Kerala CM's question to Haasan about his views on 'Hindutva forces' and whether they were 'diluting Tamil culture'.
What else did Haasan say?
Haasan wrote, "The right wing cannot challenge anyone asking the question: Show me one Hindu terrorist? Terror has spread into their camp as well. Such terror activities are not going to help them in any which ways." Further, he said people have lost faith in the saying "Truth always Triumphs" which is replaced by "strength alone triumphs," making people inhuman.
Haasan also slammed TN politics and praised Kerala
Haasan has been critical of TN's Palaniswami-led AIADMK government, accusing them of corruption. While talking about communal riots, Haasan claimed that Kerala handles them better than TN. He said TN will again be an example of social justice and for now "Kerala shows the way."
Subramanian Swamy retorts to Haasan
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy panned Haasan saying if he had any proof about these claims, he should report it to the authorities. He asserted that "there is no Hindu terrorist organization." Attacking Haasan, he said "Haasan is a morally corrupt person who can do anything at any time; he cannot be taken seriously. NIA should visit him and ask him if he has proof."
Haasan consistently taunts BJP
In what seems to have become a trend, Haasan has consistently taunted BJP. Earlier, when asked about joining politics, Haasan had said 'my color is definitely not saffron.' Though he had supported demonetization earlier, he changed his stance reportedly after "discussing it with experts." Further, he had supported the Tamil movie "Mersal" which ran into trouble for allegedly mocking the noteban and GST.
The question on everyone's mind: When will Haasan join politics?
Like a thorough film star, Haasan has been giving previews before actually joining politics, keeping the suspense alive. He had met Vijayan and AAP's convener Arvind Kejriwal fueling rumors of him joining their respective parties. Haasan has been commenting on social-political issues like dengue outbreak and national anthem in theatres. Haasan also revealed that a big announcement should be expected on November 7.
