Jitu Vaghani is an Indian businessman and politician who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He represents Bhavnagar West in Gujarat Legislative Assembly as a member of the legislative assembly. In September 2021, Vaghani was appointed as the education minister. He was born on September 11, 1970, in Gujarat. Vaghani began his political career by unsuccessfully contesting the 2007 Gujarat Legislative Assembly election from the Bhavnagar assembly constituency against Shaktisinh Gohil from Indian National Congress. Vaghani lost by a margin of more than 7,000 votes. In 2012, he successfully won his seat with the highest margin of votes in the entire region of Saurashtra. Again, he got reelected on the same seat with 27,000 votes during the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly election. In August 2016, Vaghani was appointed as BJP’s President from Gujarat after the previous president Vijay Rupani was appointed as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. In July 2020, he was succeeded by Chandrakant Raghunath Patil as the President of BJP’s Gujarat state unit.
