Jitin Prasada is an Indian politician who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was appointed as Cabinet minister by the Uttar Pradesh government in September 2021. Previously, Prasada had served as the Minister of State for the Human Resource Department. He was a former member of the Indian National Congress which he left in June 2021. Prasada was born on November 29, 1973, in Uttar Pradesh and completed his education at The Doon School and Shri Ram College of Commerce. He started his political career in 2001 as the general secretary for Indian National Congress. His first electoral win came in 2004 and was elected member of the Parliament in the 14th Lok Sabha from Shahjahanpur. Prasada was appointed as the Minister of State for Steel during his first tenure as a Member of the Parliament. He was also one of the youngest ministers in the Cabinet. During his tenure as the Union minister of state for Steel, he laid down the foundation stone of a Steel factory in Dhaurahra. Ahead of the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections, he was appointed as in-charge for the state for Congress. In 2021, Prasada joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
