Surrender by August 30: Jharkhand-court tells Lalu while rejecting bail-extension
Rejecting his plea for extension of provisional bail, the Jharkhand High Court asked RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to surrender by August 30. The former chief minister of Bihar had sought an extension of another three months on health grounds. The court was told that Yadav's health hasn't improved as he still has an infection. The HC said treatment could continue in Ranchi.
Yadav has to undergo three surgeries, his counsel tells court
Yadav is undergoing treatment for anal fistula at Mumbai's super-speciality hospital Asean Heart Institute. His counsel Prabhat Kumar told the court that despite surgery his condition hasn't improved and doctors have advised him three more surgeries. Kumar said Yadav has to get surgeries for prostrate, for removing stones from kidney and cataract. But the court observed that his illness wasn't life-threatening.
Court tells Yadav to apply for bail when needed
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh said since Yadav wasn't suffering from a life-threatening disease he can get treated at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Singh said Yadav can apply for fresh provisional bail at the time of the aforementioned surgeries. After spending two months in Birsa Munda Jail, Yadav developed health complications. He underwent treatment at RIMS and later at AIIMS, for two months.

On May 11, Yadav was given provisional bail for six weeks. It was later extended and it finally ended on August 20. Since December '17, Yadav is serving his 3.5 years prison time in Deoghar treasury case. In January, he got five years' jail for looting Rs. 33.67 crore from Chaibasa treasury. Then in March, he was convicted in yet another fodder scam case.
